🥾 STORY OF THE WEEK: WI State Parks celebrate 125 years, all year long

🚲 For $6 million, this farm will become an epic mountain bike hub LINK
A former dairy farm near La Crosse, WI is getting a $6 million glow-up to become a mountain biking mecca—think fewer cows, more curves and climbs.
ORA Trails is turning history and limestone bluffs into 15 miles of hike-bike-ski heaven, complete with trout streams, morel mushrooms, and a side of ecological restoration.
It’s not just trails—it’s a full-blown community magnet with gardens, dog parks, and camping, designed to lure folks off their screens and into the dirt—check it out!
🦌 Don’t forget to apply for your elk hunting license by May 31 LINK
Time’s ticking—Wisconsin hunters have until May 31 to enter the once-in-a-lifetime draw for a coveted 2025 elk license.
With elk populations thriving in Clam Lake and Black River, the DNR is offering limited tags for both antlered and antlerless hunts across prime public lands.
Apply online via Go Wild or in person, and feel good knowing your $10 application fee directly supports elk conservation, habitat restoration, and wildlife research across Wisconsin.
🕷️ Wisconsin becoming hotbed for Lyme disease LINK
Lyme disease is spiking in Wisconsin—2025 marks a record-breaking year, with black-legged (deer) ticks crawling their way into every county
Tiny but mighty, young ticks are the main culprits and are most active in June and July—making now the time to stock up on repellent, long sleeves, and post-hike tick checks.
With a 50/50 shot a tick carries Lyme, early removal is your best defense—because the longer it’s latched, the higher your chances of landing more than just a bug bite.

🥾 STORY OF THE WEEK: You’re invited: WI State Parks celebrate 125 years, all year long
The Wisconsin State Park System is celebrating its 125th anniversary with a full year of events—and if you’ve ever needed a reason to get outside, this is it.
But behind the beauty is a reality: With over $1 billion in maintenance backlog, funding is tight. Since losing state tax support in 2015, the parks rely on admissions, concessions, and a small army of volunteers. To read the rest of the story, sign up for the Wiscampsin Membership.
