🐟 Story of the week: After nearly 200 years, sturgeon may spawn again in the Milwaukee River

❄️ Snowmaking to the rescue LINK
No snow, no problemo! Despite a lack of natural snow, Wisconsin's cross-country ski areas like Lapham Peak, CXC Outdoor Community Center, Ariens Nordic Center, and Mt. Telemark Village are using snowmaking tech to keep the trails open.
Lapham Peak has been a pioneer in using machine-made snow since 2006 for a consistent skiing experience that draws enthusiasts from Milwaukee to northern Illinois, while CXC helps nurture both recreational and competitive skiers.
Ariens Nordic Center and Mt. Telemark Village not only offer skiing but also support other winter sports and activities, with Ariens hosting high-profile events like the biathlon championships
🌲 Special license plate supports County Forests LINK
New bling for your ride! The DMV has introduced a new specialty license plate to support the Wisconsin County Forests Association, which manages over 2.4 million acres of forest land.
The plate features the Association's logo against an autumn forest scene and requires a $25 annual donation to the Association, plus a one-time $15 fee and regular registration costs.
This new addition brings the total number of specialty plates offered by the Wisconsin DMV to 61, available for order at wisconsindmv.gov.
🏕️ DNR hiring seasonal State Park workers LINK
The Wisconsin DNR is recruiting seasonal staff for state parks, offering roles like park rangers and campground attendants to enhance visitor experiences across Wisconsin.
These limited-term positions start from spring to early summer and run through late summer to fall, providing flexibility based on availability and property needs.
Wisconsin is home to 50 state parks, 15 state forests, 44 state trails, 84,000 miles of rivers and streams, roughly 15,000 lakes and more—help keep them pristine (and get paid for it, too!)
