🚵♂️ Mountain bike program for girls LINK
Little Bellas, a mountain biking program aimed at empowering girls through fun and skill-building, is returning for its fourth year in Rhinelander with expanded offerings including a new week-long camp.
The program blends trail rides and games to teach biking techniques while building confidence, friendships, and a stronger female presence in a traditionally male-dominated sport.
With financial assistance, loaner bikes, and dedicated female mentors, Little Bellas is committed to making mountain biking accessible and impactful for girls ages 7 to 13.
📝 DNR publishes decision to add facilities to Newport State Park LINK
The Wisconsin DNR has approved a variance to allow new facilities—including an outdoor educational amphitheater—in the day-use area of Newport State Park near Parking Lot 3.
The upgrades aim to enhance accessibility, safety, and the quality of nature and night-sky programming in the park’s eastern section.
This variance aligns with the park’s recreation-focused master plan and follows public input collected during the review process.
🦃 2025 Spring Turkey Season opens LINK
Wisconsin's 2025 spring turkey season opens April 16 and runs through May 27, divided into six weekly periods across all seven turkey management zones.
Hunters must carry proper licenses and register harvested turkeys by 5 p.m. the day after recovery, using their harvest authorization number.
The DNR encourages safe, ethical hunting practices and offers access to public and private lands through special programs and online tools.
